2001 vs 2005 4Runner

If it's been in an accident (and even if not) check the Toyota VIN# tags on all the body panels, doors, hood etc. to find out which panel(s) were replaced. They should all match.

Also. Don't expect any of those car checks to be very accurate. There are many scenarios where accident information will not make it to them.

If the person hit a tree, and never told the police. If the person slammed into someone and their state didn't keep detailed digital records. A 2001, that vehicle was around just as the wave of digitization was starting.

Just a thought. Def. let a mechanic inspect it. That accident report doesn't tell you how bad. Could have been a minor fender bender. The beauty of a body on frame is, panels are very easy to replace.

You need to be a pretty serious accident before you start getting into the realm of being very worried.

Are you sure about that? If you are looking at the 2005 4Runner sale brochure, I don't see leather seats listed as an option for the SR5 or Sport. For the SR5 interior seats they are listed as:
Manually adjustable 8-way driver and 4-way passenger fabric seat

And then you have these Options on an SR5 (as for interior goes):
- JBL Synthesis 3-in-1 AM/FM Cassette/CD with ten speakers
- JBL Synthesis 3-in-1 AM/FM Cassette/6-disc in-dash CD changer and ten speakers
- Rear-seat audio system with remote control and wireless headphone capability
- Third-row foldaway 50/50 split fold-down removable seats (second-row tumble-forward with third-row seats)
- Double-decker cargo system with net
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated cruise and audio controls
- HomeLink®12 universal transceiver
- Driver and front passenger sliding sun visors with illuminated vanity mirror
- Auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass
- 115V AC power outlet

Yep I'd say I'm about 100% sure, I have an sr5 sitting outside with factory leather seats.

depend what your looking for. to me i think the 3rd geb is a tougher looking rig. but if this is mainly a dd/family car i would definitly take the 05. that seema to be a decen price for one from a dealer. that is way to much money for the 01. i just got my 2000 4runner with 129k for $4600. and to me 90k miles doesn't justify a 12k price tag.

Thanks for all the input everyone... I'm in my new 05. 4runners sr5 with leather heated seats moon roof and it cost be 13k out the door!
