I've found a couple of other threads on the site but none that match what's happening to my 2002 4Runner. The other day I was leaving for work, backed out of my parking spot and shifted into drive. As soon as I hit the gas my truck shut off. Not just the engine, everything shut off. I had zero power going to anything...lights, interior lights, warning lights on the dash all dead. When I try and start it again I don't get anything...the engine doesn't try and turn over, there's no click, just silence. After about 5 minutes I start to get power slowly. When I have the door open the interior light will flicker and then come on dimly until it comes up all of the way. During this time I still can't start the engine and still don't get any indication that I'm attempting to start it. After another 5 minutes or so I can start it up like nothing happened. This has happened twice in the last week.
I took it into a local shop yesterday and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Battery and charging system tested great (I got a new battery a month ago) and the only thing they could find was some corrosion on the negative terminal. I have 222,000 miles on my truck and I'd like to keep it for another 200,000 more. Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this? Thanks in advance for your help!
