2002 4Runner Dash Lights

Hey guys my wifes best friend has a 2002 4runner and it is great but the check engine light is on with two others. One is the traction control light and the light next to it which I think has to do with traction control also. Could the traction control switch be bad causing these lights. The mechanic she took it to said it was a short. Reset the codes and said it would come back and of course it did. I wanted to check with the pros and see if you guys might have seen this before. Thanks!

Did a search and have found it out. I will have to take it and see if I can get the codes read. What a great site. Even though I drive a jeep I am impressed with this site. Thanks

sometimes the seach feature works but sometimes it doesn't haha there is a lot of info on here somehwere the lights your refereing to are the check engine, the VSC, and tracion control i believe. but hear are some common reasons nevermind my spelling!. the first one is the most common
- gas cap not tightened to click
- dirty MAF
- bad Cat
- charcole canaster
I'd tell your friend to take it into autozone and get a code read. It's free!
