Favre thx for the reply......curious what your odometer is up to now, and avg fuel milage? What do you do with your truck i.e. daily commute, off-road, etc? Have you simply stuck with regular maintenance or done anything extraordinary? Any rattles, vibrations, etc..?

I have a 2002 Limited that I really do like. Its a great car and will lats for a long time. I have almost 90k on mine (going in for the big service tomorrow) and the only thing that has gone wrong with it was the bearings in the water pump giving out about 3k ago. I get about 16-17 MPG on average...not the best but I can get about 300 on a tank before the light comes on. 4Runners do right a bit stiff, especially 2002's because the springs were shortened to make them less roll-prone. My interior, leather, has held up really well, you can afford to not go to every single scheduled maintenance, but be sure you don't go too much over 5k before oil changes and things like that. My brakes are about to give out- I think the rotors can be turned or trued, and you might notice a few interior squeaks after a while but its nothing too annoying. Great car, has some good pick up off the line, I think it could easily do another 10-15 MPH top speed- although I don't condone that kind of driving haha...and works well in and out of the city. KellyJ, you mentioned "the 2002 springs were shortened to make them less roll-prone."
Might that explain why the 2002 Ltd's appear to "sag" or appear low on the Rear end...? I have a friend wiith an '01 and the butt seems to sit higher, looks better imho..

Yep,in '01 Toyota fitted the 4Runners with about 1" shorter coils and they lost the rear diff lock option so they aren't the best for off-road in stock trim but otherwise they are still a Toyota.
I have 127k on my '99 and it's still pretty solid feeling with minimal rattles,very minimal.
And everything still works including the power antenna. (knock on wood)

Yeah, that is at least what i have learned while being a member on this site. Not that they really sag, unless they are really worn out, but that they are just generally shorter which gives a reduction in ride height. If you have any other questions about 2002's, let me know.
Edit- just got back from the dealer, the 90k was $900, which included a new battery and new front rotors since mine apparently had warped past the resurfacing point.

Geez that '01 does seem to sit lower, has approx 25,000 kms more on it as well.....maybe it's all that side molding and fender flares that make the '02 seem to appear to "sag", so to speak.
Anyone tried to install the 1" longer springs from a '2000 model or older? Maybe asking for trouble?
