2002: Are center diffs vacuum or electrically controlled?

Trying to figure out why my center diff is stuck in the position its in.

Tacomas are electric and 4Runners are vacuum...at least they are up to 2000. Im not sure they were all the way through the 3rd gen.

The 02 are electric the hose you see is just a vent....it's all computer control front diff and t-case are electric.... Mine too is stuck in 4wd this summer i'm going to dig in it too see what's wrong with it.....:blah:

ALL the center diff actuators on 3g 4Runners are electric on all push button t-cases. Only the front diff actuators were vacuum and only through 2000. '01 and '02 are all electric--both diffs.

Here is the FSM troubleshooting protocol--I hope this has been done before calling actuator dead:
