2002 Auto door lock

I am looking at buying a 2002 4runner. currently i have a 1998, and want a 3rd gen with lower mileage.
most of the 2002's I test drive have the function that the doors lock as soon as the ignition is activately. Which is the same as my 1998. however, the one I am thinking of buying does NOT do this. I forget if the auto locks ever kicked on during the test drive. and yes, all the doors were shut tight.

Any idea why one model does not lock and why an exact year/model one WILL lock??? Is something broken? Can this be changed?

is it a base model?

im 99% sure that all 2002's had auto door locks, and that this should be working unless it is broken or has been disabled by the previous owner.

ask the dealer.

This can most likely be changed. Look in the manual to see if you can switch it to a different mode. I know for the 2004 there are 4 different lock modes. It says how to set up each one in the manual. Good luck.

if it has the rs3200+, the setting can be changed. I did it on my 02. have a look here hope that helps
