2002 sport lift?

Ok so I know there are a bunch of threads about lifts, but I only have my phone as a computer right now and sifting through threads on a little screen is painful.

I want to put a small cosmetic lift on my '02 as I no longer live in CO and my runner stays on pavement now. I had a day star 1.5" spacer lift on my last jeep, loved the look but holy crap the rear shackle pushed my leafs flat and it was like riding on a stiff board. I would love to gain just 1 1/2 or 2" for slightly bigger tires but don't want to ruin the ride like it did my Cherokee since its a daily city ride. Appreciate any input

I'll bite, since I've been lurking on this forum for quite a few years now, and I can sympathize with what a PITA it is to use a phone to search forums.

You want too look at the 99 4runner "tall" springs. Should give you what you want about 1.5 to 2" and maintain factory ride. All new parts, with Bilstein 5100s you are looking at around $700-750, for the parts. You can probably get some used ones for way cheaper. My 2 cents, I would probably consider used fronts, I wouldn't consider used rear springs. TMost Toyota springs sag over time, so even if the used rears aren't sagging now, there is a good chance they will be.

You could also look in to an Old Man EMU (OME) 880/906 lift. Price is about the same, but you will add some stiffness to your mostly on-road vehicle. I actually like the added stiffness of the OME. Handles better, hauls better. Same price range as the 99 lift, maybe a few extra dollars.

The cheap option is still a spacer lift. I haven't read anyone say the ride was terrible with these. From what I've read, the milder it is, the better off you will be here. Not sure though, never really researched this type of lift. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I would go with the OME.
I have the "883/ 891" set up and it rides great loaded or unloaded to me.

Gives you more like a 3" lift though.

I run 265/75/16's (32" tires roughly) on my '98 with no lift. I purposely chose not to lift this one because I want the factory ride and don't want the CV issues, possible vibration issues etc that come with a lift. My point being, if you only want to lift it for bigger tires (depending how big) try just the tires first.

If after that you still want the lift, since you're looking mild, I'd suggest Tundra TRD springs upfront and OME 906's in the rear. You don't need the Bilstein 5100 shocks either. They're nice, but not necessary. You can run the Tundra springs on stock shocks (or stock replacements) and same with the OME 906's. You could probably find both sets of springs for about $250 used. ($125 ish/each set.) If you want shocks too, the Bilstein HD's run a little under $300 for all four from AJUSA.com or you could hunt around eBay for some KYB's, Monroes, etc.
