2002 strut replacement question

I searched the suspension archives and didn't find the answer to a question I have that I am sure somebody that has done the struts will know the answer to:

I am replacing the front struts and springs on my 2002. Stock replacement parts, no lift.

What I want to do is have the new springs installed on the new struts and then basically do a swap old for new.

Is there any hardware on the old struts that will be required to get the new struts/springs put together and ready to go on?

This is the list of parts Sonoron Steel sells to allow purchasing a fully assembled strut instead of just the shock and springs:

The nuts are actually included with the shocks, but SS says the Toyota nuts are better. But you would need the rest from the old strut or somewhere. I reused all of mine.

If you indeed have a fully assembled strut, compressed, that should be all you need.

The new struts should come with a spacer looking device that matches up to the angle of the coil, as well as all the hardware. I think you should be good to go, but it's been a while since i changed mine. you might need to buy need rubber components...

I think the top plate with the retainer part is going to be the gotcha. The new strut came with:

1) Rubber bushing
2) Sleeve
3) Nuts

But that being said, even @ $152 the full kit to preassemble the struts is not bad at all considering what I am saving doing it myself. I want to go through all the ball joints and check the CV's while I'm in there so I think that will work just fine.
