2002 toyota 4runner diesel found in Socal

I just came across:keyboard: this 2002 4Runner on craigslist with a 1kz 3.0 turbo diesel conversion. 4x4 manual and most important part is that it is CA registered, thought I would share it on T4R. It's not legal. Its registered, doesn't mean the vehicle is legal.

Wait until 2012 I think after 20 years it's exempt. Used to be anyway.

Edit: Only if it came with a diesel from the factory.

The exceptions are for 25 years, and you just gotta know some people to get it registered. BTW if toyota got it passed emmisions (which they prolly didnt) when the 4runner was released then it is fine with little hassal.

I wonder if this guy will allow test drives. I would love to see how it drives w/ the diesel engine.

Man thats a good find. wonder how much power it makes and the mpg as well. is that 20 grand market price like the blue book value or is it just what the owner wants?

22-26mpg, which is ok, toyota coulda done a better job in the mpg's, they could have made them all get 30.

Toyota has a looooooooooooooooong history with diesels. They even had Toyota pickups and Camry diesels here in America.

And incase you never knew, they also make a V8 single and twin turbo diesel engine for the LandCruiser 70s and 200 series.

And Toyota is Hino. They make semi trucks

I wish I had the money. I would so get that diesel 4Runner. Next year will be the first year I can legally import a JDM Diesel 3rd gen Hilux Surf, but I would much rather get that one as it's LHD instead of RHD.

He and his son came to my house, me and my brother really liked it.

He did a really good job, didn't speak english well at all so we didnt talk long.

He gave me the money for the wheels and tires and left. Very well built though. I especially like that its a manual but an 02.

I wouldn't pay nearly 20k for it though.

It's not too bad, its a couple of minutes to get used to the shifting and thats it.
