2003 2WD V8 OME885/Bilstein 5100 adj.

I installed the OME885 on Bilstein adj. shocks set on lowest setting today on my sons 03 2wd v8. Should have gotten 2.5"-3", I ended up with over 4". Not complaining, just trying to figure out how i got so much lift on the front end. Have driven it on some rough dirt roads to settle it in, rides great. Before measurements were driver front 32 3/4", pass. front 32 7/8". Rear setting was driver 35 3/4", pass. 36 1/8". Suspension stock before install on front . Any ideas? Any ideas on leveling back with front?

i vote for upside down perches as well.

I started to do the first side with perch upside down, damm near impossible to compress the OME 885 spring with cheap spring compressors that much. Reread the instructions, flipped the perch over and no problem compressing the spring. I'll take pictures in day light for final proof.

This was my front right after the lift before driving it around.

This was after it settled.

I easily lost a 1/2", probably close to 1" after it settled. In the first picture you can see how even the front/rear are, in the second picture you can tell the front is lower. I was actually nose high originally, now it's even.

Coo... It will probably settle an in. How is the ride? You might have got some 886's if the ride is harsh. If it rides good just throw on a 1.5 in daystar in the rear.

Approx 4" over stock sounds right for that setup. I ran the same setup on my v8 4x4 and got exactly 3" in the front. The 2wd sits lower in the front than the 4wd, so automatically you get more lift height. Also, the 2wd weighs less in the front, so you'll get a bit more lift due to that as well. Can you measure from center of wheel to the bottom of the fender? That eliminates tire size differences so numbers are more meaningful.

Getting the front aligned now, the ride is firm but not uncomfortable. Rides a lot like my old fj that had the all terrain/bilstein package. How high on the rear before I have to worry about the brake line?

What springs did you use for the rear?

Still stock in the rear. Was hoping it would be about level when doing the front, researching which way to go with the rear now. 1.5 spacer for $110 or 2895 rear OME springs for $167. I thinking for $167 do the OME springs and keep original shocks to keep cost down, should add 2" to the rear. Like I said earlier - this is my son's 4Runner. I have my 2013 to do next. I'm learning from this one.

I paid ~$30 for my daystar 1.5" rear spacer: Part# KT09118BK Eventually I"ll put springs in, but it was a quick fix for the cali rake.

Before purchasing the OME rear springs, I've heard they tend to feel stiff if you don't have weight in the back. You may want to check out a couple reviews before making a final decision.

The 2" daystarr spacer was $110, the 1.5" was a lot cheaper but I think the 2" was needed. Doesn't matter now/ I stopped by the local 4x4 shop and ordered the OME 895 springs and a couple of rough country shocks for $279 out the door. I have about $360 in the frontsprings and shocks. That's 640ish for entire lift. I'll post on the ride after the install

FJ 4wd springs with 5100's call it a day.
Brand new FJ springs are only like 50 bucks on rock auto
So total for all 300 bucks all new

I think you got a little extra lift from your original stock suspension being worn out old and shot by what your measurements were

Finally got the rear lifted. when i started the Old Man Emu site said for the v8 go with 2885 which we did along with bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks up front and pro comp 9000's with 2895 rear. .Lift looks good and the ride is good, good and slightly stiff. My son's runner is a 2wd v8, so in hindsight we should have gone 2884 and 2895e in the rear. He's 19 so he wont notice the stiff ride. Rear is right at 38 1/2 " rear and front 37 1/2" front. we do get a slight axle bounce or wrap on backing up, not sure if that will work itself out with settling or not.

With a lift, will there be any issues with the CV joints not being leveled? How much a lift would cause premature wear to the CV joints? Thanks.
