I had that happen with a bad CD that simply isn't read, have you tried a few different ones?

Sounds like it won't even let you stick a CD in? If that's true then the CD player is screwed, I sold my old stock radio to a lady and she said it wouldn't take a CD after she received it, she'd had the same problem with another CD player she received.

She sent mine back and I got the same results. She said that with the previous non-functional CD player, she had gone to a dealership and searched for hours to no avail. The dealership said it had something to with the CD player being shaken or dropped and something was either misaligned, or there is a piece that falls in place blocking the disc slot (can't remember which it was).

In other words, I don't think there's a fix.

Most of the time its a mechanical failure with the player itself when this happens. These things go south sometimes.

is there any way to tell for sure if the cd players shot? -yes that was correct - you cant even get a cd in the player like its got a door shut on it or something.. thanks

dont be sorry ... just want to be able to play cps.. hate the radio and dont want to pay for xm..thanks for your input !

Hmm ... and you are sure that there`s no CD already in there that will not eject? My thinking is its done for.
If its just CD`s you wanna play just go to Wal Mart and get a decent Pioneer stereo, adapter kit and be done with it. I say Pioneer because I`ve had several that didn`t cost a ton and played forever. The only reason I don`t have them now is because they went with the truck/car upon trade in lol

Broke. Sometimes you can physically remove the unit, pop it open, and see if perhaps it skipped a tooth on the gear; more often it is just busted.

heres the story..

just bought my 4 runner off a local honda dealer .. [ yes i know its a toyota, lol] any way - 2003 toyota 4 runner has 77000 miles on her and in very good shape! Since the truck is obviously not honda certified they gave me the usual 90 day powertrain warranty at no charge and i believe they would stand behind the truck if anything major was wrong. Now the question - should they fix or do they have to fix the dang blasted cd player???? Or do i just swallow it and replace it myself - would have to wait as i dont have the cash right now... Thanks

Omg.. Ask yourself.. Even if they fix this 2003 factory radio it's still a POS. buy a new one for $200 bucks install it and done.
