Radio not working but has power

99 4runner, v6, recently back on the road. Mice did get in when off the road for a while, BUT radio has worked fine since full cleanout, carpet removal and vacuum etc. (400-500 miles)

Went to drive it today and the radio does not turn on. I checked all fuses with a meter. All good. Pulled radio out, cassette and CD unit hooked together, and third part back behind. the third portion back in the dash has power and acc coming in per volt meter. (and then the harness out of there feeds the cassette head unit which also has power.)

Question- Is this something where these radios just die at some point and they are done (330,000 ish)? Is there some internal fuse or quick tuner cleaner solution people have tried that worked?

Is it just aftermarket radio time? I probably have something on a shelf somewhere or can get a cheap one, just thought it would be worth asking before replacing.

If you have it out and have a couple of spare speakers and a 12v battery you could try a bench test. Put jumpers to the speakers and into the harness, then apply the 12 v power. I'd put a 3 amp inline fuse in the mix as well.

Radios side can randomly die too.. Not as common but that is possible... :-( Does the tape and CD section still work?
