Hey guys. I have a 2003 4runner, 4.7 v8 112k. Engine runs strong, I have kept up on all the maintenance and it fits my needs. I just had the VA state inspection and had both exhaust manifolds replaced.
Noticed yesterday it was leaking oil very badly, like a trail out of my driveway. I parked it and from what I could tell it was a rear main seal. Getting ready to pay $1100 to replace it I had it towed to a shop. Shop is saying they stuck a mirror to check the rear main and its dry but the upper oil pan seal is leaking and they need to pull the motor. Quoting $2800 and ~26 hours.
Does this sound right?
If I get this done, anything else I should have done with the engine out?
