Anyone having problems with their carpeting? Mine was wearing by the gas pedal and was replaced a few months ago. Now it is showing wear again. Now I'm wondering if the dealer actually replaced it or just repaired it, although it did look new. I try to avoid putting my foot down in that area and I am not heavy footed or a large person. I really can't believe that it has started to wear in only a few months. The quality of the interior of the 2003 has been disappointing for me. I still have unresolved problems such as rattles in the headliner and frequent vibration or shifting feel in the antilock brackes, which I have been told is normal.

I haven't had any problems with mine either.
But, I'll agree that Toyota really should've used better carpet and headliner materials, especially on a $30k+ truck. The carpet isn't very thick and the nap is very short. The headliner also feels really cheap, even the one in our Corolla is much better. The rest of the interior quality is very good though.

I've had a similar problem with previous cars (most recently a Jeep) and solved it by velcro-ing either a thing piece of carpet or rubber mat to the area to the side of the gas pedal (making sure, of course, that it does not interfere with the pedal and won't fall off). I've now done the same to my 4Runner.
It's that side area that my foot always rubs against and which might be less durable than the foor itself. The floor, of course, is also protected by mats.

No problem with my carpet, but....
I have already worn out my driver's side floor mat. I got my 2006 Ltd. on the 1st of November, and by the 1st of April I had worn out the carpet fibers on the floor mat under my driving foot. There is not yet a hole all the way through the mat, but its getting there.
I am not a hard driver, and I wear normal shoes. I wore out the driver's side mat in my Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it took me 6 years instead of 6 months.
I'm going to discuss this with my dealer as soon as I get a chance. I also broke one of those little hooks in the back that the nets connect to....that's my fault and I want to get a replacement. When I check on that I'm going to see what they will do about the floor mat.

The driver's side floor mat in my vehicle is not worn. The carpeting near the gas pedal but underneath the floor mat is what is wearing. It's very strange since one area is near the side of the pedal and my foot doesn't even touch that area. The other area is covered by the floor mat and the floor mat is not worn. I am bringing my 4runner in for oil change this week and will show service guy. It looks like the areas that had worn before and they had replaced with brand new carpeting. That's why I'm wondering if they actually replaced the carpeting or just did a "good" patch job and cleaned it. I was very careful to cover the previous worn areas with the floor mat so this would not happen again.
