2003 SR5 V6 Muffler and CAI Choice?

So I have a 2003 SR5 V6 and I woud like to change out the stock muffler with something that sounds better. I cant decide between a Flowmaster 40 or 50 series or a Magnaflow muffler. Im not looking to do a whole new exhaust system, just a muffler. What are your guys thoughts?

Also, later on I plan on doing a CAI as well and I was wondering which is better, the aFe CAI or the K&N CAI?

For the exhaust, there are plenty of sound clips available if you search. As for the Cold Air Intake, the stock one is the best.

Just use that money you have for the CAI on headers instead

AFE intake or URD TCAI. I wouldnt bother on the muffler but thats your call. I just use the long tubes and urd y, with stock catback as my exhaust. sounds pretty good imo.

never waste your money on a CAI the factory intake is already sucking in cold air. do a forum search for "the truth about CAI" I posted it and its pretty informative. Also a bit of unscientific proof that CAI are pointless, I have an Ultragauge in my 4th gen and my IAT (intake air temp) is consistantly 1-5* warmer than the ambient air temp. You cant get any colder air that what the air is outside your vehicle (intercooler excluded).

This morning my IAT was 51.8* and the air temps outside the car was 50*

also swapping the muffler is your best solution for your exhaust query, cat back exhaust are a total waste of money as well unless your factory exhaust is rotting away. the only real performance upgrade you will see is from mid length or long tube headers, so if all you want is a throaty sound buy that Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler you want.

Exhaust on V6 sounds dumb. Only do it to a flat or straight 6, these two 6 cylinder variants sound much better.

Yeah, those Porsche and BMW flat and slant 6's sound awesome with exhausts. Listen to a cat-back on a 4.0L Jeep inline 6 and see if you still stand by that statement... :barf:

Never really listened to one, but I am referring to Porsche and BMW as you indicated.

Here's my statement: The 4.0 V6 sounds very pedestrian. I say no exhaust.

Pretty much same size as stock oem mine had very little trimming 2 1/2 in an out sounds good to me ! Had the 40 , 50 on my 03 Taco they sounded ricey . Little pricey but it's healthy try to get a shot of it tomorrow n the daylight.

It's definitely not going to unleash endless amounts of horsepower but the factory Y pipe is pretty restrictive and it can't hurt to get ride of the third cat...unless your David Suzuki.

Don't know if you guys can see this ? Tucks up in there nice not like our stock one oval . They trimmed about an inch off each pipe & set er in there , welded right up & mounted out the side . No heavy drone or ricer drone , same muffler used on the larger SUVs
