2003 T4R amp/sub question

Just bought my buddies amp/sub
alpine swr 1243d type R sub and a kenwood KAC9104d amp.

short question without details is: Can I install the amp/sub without taking out the current amp, and without replacing the deck? I know the setup only has 2 channels? going to the current amp, and from there splits to head to the amp.

Details:
I have the standard JBL audio system (no nav) with factory everything (as far as the sound system goes)

If I can get away without having to remove anything I would prefer it at this time, because I will be upgrading the rest of the speakers, maybe buying a navigation unit/deck combo after I get my tax return. Haven't fully decided, but I would like to get the sub up and running before then.

I've done electrical work on the car before, just new to the whole sound/stereo setup. I've already looked up wiring guides and such on these forums and they have been a big help! :thanks:

Does the amp have speaker level inputs?

If so, piece of cake. Mount everything where you want it, run your power, remote, and ground cables. Then pop the trim under the front seat belts and rear door sills. Splice into the factory speaker wiring and run your wires back from there.

I was the guy to go to in HS/College if you wanted your sound system installed. I just installed an Infinity setup in my '03 and the amp had speaker level inputs. This was my route and I will have a write up on my build thread soon. If you can't wait until then, shoot me a PM, I'll be happy do write up a quick set of instructions for you.

That info is from your factory amp.

With your new amp, you'll run power, gound, and remote (12v ignition source) to it.

Splice into each rear door wires (Red/White on the passenger side, Black/Yellow on the driver's side). The wires are a thicker gauge than the rest of the wires in the harness. Run these back to the respective amp inputs. You can use these speaker wires (even though they are amplified).

If you have a single sub, run Left + and Right - outputs to your sub.
