Mid way thru 2003 they changed the tow ratings, as they went to the higher class hitch. Caused a lot of confussion with people saying the V8 2003 was only rated for (I think) 5,000. I'm on an RV forum where people are starting to report towing some pretty good travel trailers with the V8 (and proper hitch of course).
The "weight distributing" hitch is key, as it distributes the tongue weight throughout the tow vehicles 4 wheels. I will have one for my new travel trailer/4Runner set up.
By the way, I see an option on the 2004 for rear leveling. Anybody have this?
