2003 V8 Limited start issue

Hey y'all! So, I've searched and not found much that really hits on this issue.

Sometimes when I start my T4R it starts right up and then the engine sounds like it's "dipping" like it's not sure it wants to run. A few seconds, at most, later it picks right back up and runs and drives fine.

Things I've looked at:

1) Oil seems fine
2) Battery is good
3) Alternator is good
4) A/C is not on
5) Radio is off
6) No aftermarket amp or appliance is running

I have not checked the plugs, but these are indeed on my list to replace. They were supposedly changed when I bought her two years ago. I want to replace anyway. She drives and idles fine after this and it is only an issue I notice every now and then.

There's no sign of improper mileage or loss of power recently.

I've had the exact same thing happen to my 03 V8. Kind of like a stutter on startup. It's only happened 3 times so far and two of the times were back to back after 40 miles washboard off-roading in Death Valley. It's been fine since. I have 70k on my truck. I couldn't find much on it either.

A few things I might consider checking on:

Is the engine air filter dirty or in need of replacing?

Are the fuel injectors dirty/clogged or in need of cleaning?

Are there any vacuum leaks at the intake manifold or hose connections?

Could also be spark plugs (or wires) as you have already indicated.

Great thoughts! I will check them out! The air filter should be pretty clean as I recently replaced it, but here in Houston you never know. Dust and pollen EVERYWHERE. Thanks, mate!

Turn the key to the "ON" position but do not start the truck. Wait a few seconds, then try to start it. Does it still "dip" as you described it?

Is this only cold starts, or warm starts too?
