I am in the process of peicing together a remote oil filter kit and need to know the thread type for the 2003 V8. Wanting to do a kit with good fittings and stainless braided lines. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

For the 4th Generation V8 4Runner (2003-2009)...you have to remove the skid plate to get to the oil filter.

Some people did an oil filter bypass mod.

Search Member Koz ... I think he's the one that did it.

I do understand you have to remove the skid plate to get it. Thats the reason im building an oil filter relocation kit. I just need to know the threads so that I can get the right peice to thread onto the engine. The Amsoil kit is so dang expensive i can build a quality one for alot less than that and maintain regular oil changes. Thanks for the heads up though.

Skid plate takes less than 5 minutes to remove. If you run a good oil you might only have to remove/install the plate once a year. Is that the only benefit of an oil filter bypass mod?

:iagree:

An advice that someone gave me before...if it's too difficult to do (whatever it is) maybe [that thing] isn't right for you.

I understand that it can be done from the top and that the skid can be removed in less than 5 minutes. I am a mechanic by trade so its not that I do not have the skill to remove a skid plate to get easy access to the filter. I just want to relocate it. Why do some people perform the mods they do? Because they want too. This is a want not a need.
