2004 4 runner oil pump plate

Im doing heads and timing belt, dropped a washer down the oil galley after I took out the cams to relplace the heads,found the washer. I loosened the oil pump plate cover but cant get it off the crank it seems like the oil pick up tube is connected to the plate,Im about ready to pull the motor so I can replace all the gaskets. Its 4 wheel drive. So I just need to know if there are any tricks or am I missing something to get this plate off before I pull motor.

I found the washer, but not before I tried to take the oil pump cover off.

Are you talking about removing the front timing cover?
