So my truck hit 200k miles. Guess what? things started breaking!
The truck is old, and her bluebook value wasn't much, so i went the inexpensive route with all the parts and repairs.
This post will outline the journey of the 200k 4runner.
First was a timing belt explosion! (LINK: https://goo.gl/C4rZpx)
So i replaced it with a $190 kit off ebay (AISIN OEM with belt tensioner)
Motor is good, still rocking like a sewing machine after 3k miles of the explosion.
Second, the mysterious click.
thought it was the CV's so i replaced them with new ebay ones for $120 for the pair. They are solid and well built. no issues after 3k miles.
believe it or not, the oems were fine, it was a shame replacing them when the actual clicking noise was the BUMPER (POST: https://goo.gl/GEK1us)
also, the When the CV's get stuck...you have to make this tool. UGH
Third, Battery.
Costco gave me some money back after 6 years, crazy. So i went with their batteries again. Shame the kirklands are discontinued and they just had the interstate ($60).
Fouth, Coils
When the timing blew, I thought it was the coils and plugs. So i replaced them both. The plugs are OEM NGK iridium. but the coils are pure chinese knock offs on ebay. They are working great and I will have 8 oem spares if they fail. OEMs had cracks on every one of them. Check yours for cracks.
The Ebay ones were $66 for the set! still rocking strong after 3k miles.

NEXT:
- i have a small leak at the transfer case at the front drive shaft oem seal, its not the 4wd switch box (THANK GOD).
- all the driveline needs grease.
- diffs need oil change.
- Tranny needs another flush...again.
- SHOCKS, Cannot believe these OEM tokico shocks have 100k miles and still decent. but they will need to be replaced soon, ride is getting rough.
