2004 4runner rear turn Signal frozen

I need to replace my left rear turn signal but I cannot turn the socket to remove it from the housing. I am turning it counter clockwise. I have tried grabbing it with a small pair of pliers but there really isn't enough room to maneuver to loosen it. The usual curses aren't working either. Short of buying a gym membership does anyone have any ideas on hoe to get this out? Is there a tool that fits in the square socket?

I had this once, but I just kept working at it until "POP!" it was out. If you need to, remove the tail housing, and then get the bulb out that way.

Have you tried carefully applying pressure both in the clockwise and counter clock wise direction, working the light bulb socket back and forth to try and loosen it.
