2004 4Runner - Recommended Service Needed after 100K

Hi All,
Just got a good deal on a 2004 4Runner with 110K Miles on the Odometer. The vehicle was well maintained from the previous owner.

Please recommend the necessary tune up needed after 100K.

Questions
Do you advise i change in the vehicle after 100K?
Some friends suggest new Alternator and timing belt + reset. Not sure so i need your expert advise.

Unless you know this was recently done, I suggest:

- Timing Belt, tensioner, water pump
- Change transmission fluid
- Spark plugs
- Lube propeller shaft, especially if you hear a clunk when you come to a stop

No need to replace alternator unless there is something wrong with it. Also inspect brakes and CV boots.

OP did not say weather it was a v6 or v8. if its a v6 then no water pump/timing belt is needed.

If you have a V6, like jzme stated, then you don't have a timing belt. Further, the alternators on these trucks are very good. There is no reason to replace it just for maintenance.

110k miles really isn't that many miles, especially if it's been well cared for. The differential fluids are an often overlooked fluid, as is greasing the driveline.

Alternator???? WHY??

I haven't replaced an alternator in a vehicle since my 84 GMC pickup. Since then my wife and I have owned 6 vehicles...4 with well over 300k miles (2 of which after we gave them away had close to 500k miles and running strong with the original alternator). Our current vehicles have over 100k miles (wifes 07 lexus over 110k miles and my 05 over 220k miles)...all with the original alternator. In 40+ years of car ownership I've NEVER heard of anyone proactively replacing an alternator.

If you have the V8 then it has a timing belt which needs to be replaced. Also prudent to replace the water-pump at the same time.

Alternator replacement could be a regional issue due to driving in dusty conditions all the time. Likely a lot of time on dirt roads in Ghana but I've never been there so can't speak from experience.

transfer case oil
^^ if you are 4x4
rear diff
spark plugs (they were prob done at 90k if you don't know change them anyway
clean the throttle body
check your air filter if its dirty get an afe pro dry s (life time washable no oil filter)
check your brake pads and rotors
i would defiantly flush out your radiator it probably still has the original coolant in there and after years the coolant turns ascetic and eats away your radiator.

Thanks for the advise. Pls recommend some spare plugs(brands and models) I should be considering. Nkg, botch..... I will also be glad of your can give me an online links to these items.
