2004 aftermarket exhaust manifold help

I've been searching for an answer and cant find it, hopefully yall can help me. I've had the P0430 code for almost 2 years and ive put new o2 sensors, and new air/fuel sensors so ive come to the conclusion that its the drivers side catalytic converter. I have a california emissions 4runner and was looking for an aftermarket manifold with the cat in it. i found this https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1....,cf.osb&fp=a1bc1589ec616832&biw=1366&bih=667 which says cali emissions but not for sale in california, does ANYBODY have an advice if this is what i need? the one from toyota is WAY too expensive

I don't have a definate answer for you but if I was in your position I would call the manufacturer of the manifolds and ask if there cali emissons compliant, say something like "Are you sure? because if they fail the emissons test i'm sending my garage bill to you!" lol

haha good call, i wish i didnt have to buy this stupid part, but i went from getting ~400 miles to a tank to getting 175....kill me now

The other choice would be long tube headers and o2 sensor simulators.

I've looked it up and this method is about $400 where buying stock headers and gaskets is about $800. They are pretty easy to replace either way.

You are NOT allowed to bypass the emissions (which 02 sensor simulators is doing). This is Federal law.

makes sense...i wasnt going to do it anyways, i want the stock (aftermarket) manifold

You can put the NON CA emissions cats on the car, it won't harm anything and it will still pass smog. Up until 2 years ago all of that replacement emission stuff was CA legal, CA just increased their standards, making all of the old "50 state legal" stuff non compliant.

In CA we now need different replacements cats that are cleaner than before. they are more expensive, and have special EO numbers on them.

In short, this was a law change, not a technical change to the cats themselves. Effectively the cats that are on your car are now technically "not CA approved". All cars with older emissions equipment are grandfathered in, so you would not have a problem passing smog.
