2005 4 runner brake lock up

Howdy All,

I have a 2005 4 Runner v8. I am driving down the road and I hear a loud beep then the brakes lock up then let go, it happened 4- 5 times. I drove on home and did not do it again. I have 72k on it. Any ideas , I thank you for any and all help.

So I'm the only one that has had problem ??

Just driving down the road and the abs comes on, no lights or codes just the abs brakes come on.

Let me ask you this, do you have any mods? Lifts? anything which you, or a shop have done lately?
Have you checked your ABS/Wheel Sensors? ........ Not sure, just throwing it out there...

Sometimes it will take a while before you get a response 3:36 minutes for a follow-up post was not neccesary :)

In a follow up post in order for others to try and help you, there are plenty of people here that will try. You might want to give some background information to help us help you. conditions this happens, bumps, road, time of day, rain, snow, dry, how long you had the vehicle. dash lights, ect... what ever info you give us can help you.

even with your limited info that you have provided. it sounds like to me, the stability control unit is beeping. this happened to me when i would hit a curb while making a turn and a quick jolt to the suspension and my truck would beep and abs would apply. i could possibly have rolled the truck over in a instance like that. system was that quick to react.

sounds like you may need to do a Zero Point Calibration or ZPC recalibration.

doa goggle search with the terms toyota zpc 4runner and start from there to see if thats what your symptoms are like.

btw- we (members) are here for not only tech support, there's much more than that. :)
 
Yes new. To your form. New to Toyota. Before this I had a 1978 jeep wagoner. I have done no mods.no lift. All stock. Driving on dry roads. It is Nj and there ate pot holes every where. Thanks for your help.
 
Sounds like traction control kicking in to me I've done that going down a rough road trying to accelerate to fast.
 
It happens to mine quite often. It started with more agressive tires and a lift. Most of the time when I am pulling into a driveway a front tire will slip and the beep-beep with traction control pulse.

Are you turning and the front tires are slipping slightly? Toyota's traction control does not allow any slipping so you might not even know it is happening.

It has not happened again, every thing has been fine.

Did not mean to be pushy for a reply, but my kids will be driving to buffalo this week end. Want to make sure all would be ok.

Only thing you have given us is "I have done no mods.no lift. All stock. Driving on dry roads."

Nothing else to go on. You did not say who what when where how? You basically want a answer without giving up more information. Then you dont agree or disagree with what others have sugggested.

How do you expect to get a answer? AND the kicker is You are not trying to be pushy but you are:doh::lol:
