The rummer about the new motor is true but you 'll not see it in the 4 runner! just the land cruiser and LX 470

I wonder if they are going to use a single piece Nav unit now? Like the Camry? With the CD player and the DVD Map drive in the head unit?
That would make installing the actual 4Runner Nav into our non Nav Runners alot easier, plus the LEDs would match too. I hope that is what they have planned!!

Where did you get that misleading information, the 1 place I follow cause their rumors are fact based is always right when it comes to Toyota making changes.

Variable valve timing makes the engine easier breathing and usually results in better mileage numbers.Flashcrunch said:

If you make the opening small you get a good idle and smoothness at low speeds. If you get a wide opening you get a great running engine at high speeds, you can get more fuel and air in & exhaust out. (If you have ever heard a dragster race car at idle, you will know what I am talking about, since it is very rough running at idle.) Car companies come up with a opening that is a compromise. Since the introduction of the 4g bigger and faster 4runner with the new V6 and option V8 motor in it. sale on the land cruiser and LX 470 been down. because who would want to pay 50+k for one of those when you can get a new 4runner V8 with all the bell and whistle for under $40k! now Toyota is coming out with a more powerful motor for the big brother SUV to help boost sale on them. They have no plain to put the new V8 in the 4runner since it is selling well with the 235HP V8 and new 245HP V6. so if you want one of these new 270+HP V8 be per pair to dish out big buck for a new land cruiser or LX 470:

Can we verify what is the true story of the new 2005 v-8 motor. I actually stopped a deal based on the new 2005 motor. I would wait for this engine. . If there is not going to be the variable valve engine in 2005 for the 4 runner it is time to by a 2004.

I stopped by the 2 dealers today and they said that the 4Runner was going to get VVTi.....

The LandCruiser and LX have always been low volume sellers, they have never really ever had sales that stood out above any of the other Toyota vehicles.
I think TRD came up with this himself or with the likes of the MIT 4th graders on edmunds, the Toyota Dealer and the Lexus Dealer have already confirmed the increased HP from corporate and the GX470 is getting the VVTi, why would the GX which is built on the same line as the 4Runner get the increase.
I don't get it, their is actual proof that the VVTi is going in across the board and yet a newbie post otherwise cause he feels a certain way and all the fact based stuff goes down the drain.

Sorry bubby but they will differently put the new motor in a Lexus but no way on a 4runner! That wouldn't be a good marketing decision on Toyota . That would hurt Lexus sale if they did that!!

I hope to find out on monday, I am going to get the info from a rep at Southeastern toyota, the distrubitor for the southern states, As soon as I know i will post it, He said that they have a few 1000 in the port as we speak. Also the local dealers, (2) both tell me that the info should be released Aug 1 and they should have some on the lot by mig august, the sepcial orders will take a few weeks longer:beer:

Great pictures, but your statement has a few holes. Toyota has consistantly put the up-graded engine in both the Lexus and Toyota. On the other hand, "EDGE" says their is actual proof. What is the actual proof.
Bottom line: I think the variable valve timing is coming, but I have no proof.

It doesn't really matter, does it? It's unlikely that there will be any significant changes to the 4Runner is 2005, since the vehicle is only two model years old. If it gets a bump in HP, that's great. Big deal. The 2004 is so excellent that I'm not sure it's worth waiting for and maybe even paying a premium over MSRP to get a few more ponies on a BRAND NEW engine with unproven reliability. The current V8 has been optimized and is widely regarded as one of the smoothest and quietest engines of its type. The shrewd buyer (with will power) will wait until the '05 hits the dealers (if it has the new engine), then deal on an '04 V8 for below invoice.

A well known source has posted the information on tundrasolutions.com, she was the 1st to post the information about the 4Runner loosing the plastic cladding, she is never wrong.
