I have a 2005 sport 4runner with the 4.7 v8 and the engine shakes when driving with the a/c on occasionally...any suggestions?

Not sure what you're saying but my AC comes on with a loud clunk and significantly changes the driveability of the vehicle making both acceleration and braking much less smooth. Still works great after 7 years with no recharge so I assume it's working normally. Probably nothing to worry about.

Any more description here? I can definitely "feel" when I turn my A/C on, both idle, driving, and when braking. I too have an 05, Limited, V8.

Reviving an old thread...... I have an 07 and the truck shakes and jerks as well when the AC comes on. Any explanations why this is so harsh in these trucks?

Sometimes this can be a sign that the serpentine belt is nearing the end of its life. The AC clutch activates, the old belt is too stretchy so it bunches up a little, then when its stretched as much as it can the compressor starts to turn, the belt unbunches, and everything kinda lurches back to spinning again.

Also, when its hot as balls out, the compressor has to work harder, so its activation will be more pronounced.

Thanks. I only have 25k miles on the truck but I'll have that checked out. Quite possible that simple age can wear/stretch the belt too.
