2005 4Runner Power Windows Quit Working, Driver Side Works

Hey Folks,

Have a problem with the power windows on a 2005 4Runner SR5. All windows but the driver side stopped working. One day they all worked, the next day I can't roll down any power window except the driver side, including the rear window.

I confirmed the power window lock is not engaged, and cycled it to be sure. I used the master switches on the driver side and the individual switches at each door. I read on here someone about resetting the windows, servo or something but that didn't work.

I don't hear any noise when pressing the switches. I'm not having any electrical issues I'm aware of, everything but the windows work. I haven't touched the battery. The electric side mirror switch works.

Not real technical when it comes to auto repair, and I cringe at the thought of taking apart the door and switches, unless I know what I'm looking for. I try to fix what I can, mostly easy stuff, but I don't know how to go out fixing this.

Has anyone else experienced this, and is so, any ideas how to resolve it? Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Purely a guess but given the symptoms I would think the lock switch is stuck in the lock position somehow. Not sure if that would be a switch or computer issue but that would be my guess.

Hello! I have the same problem and only the driver side windows is working. The other day , I kept pressing the security switch and all the windows starts working for an hour then completely died again. Did you already find out whats wrong with your windows? Im thinking about pulling the power windows master switch and inspect it but I cant find anything online on how to do it.

Does the auto up/auto down function work?

yes it does. The other thing I notice as well is when I shut down the engine and pulled my key , Im still able to operate the driver side window to close or roll it down as long as all the doors are still closed. Ever since this problem happened , I cant use my driver side window as soon as I shut down the engine,

Ever figure this one out. I just caused this somehow with close to the same symptoms. Except my rear and sunroof still work. My drivers side will function but none of the others.

Bonus, it's raining and I don't have a garage and the passenger window is open a 1/4.

Check to make sure you didn't accidentally hit the window lock button, which is a little square button located on your driver's side door.

It's not the window lock, but it acts as if the window lock is stuck on. It's odd that only the windows controlled by the lock are affected.

I know something funky happened because I was working with wiring while this occurred. I was attempting to attach a micro usb to the console wiring to use a switch +12v power source for a dash cam.

I checked ever fuse and see nothing wrong with the fuses, and I have disconnected the battery to try a reset too. All did nothing to help.

Anyone ever find out what was wrong?

Im having the same exact problems in my GX- Drivers window and sunroof work, none of the others working. I was able to turn off the the truck then back on to fix it but now it seems permanent. Any ideas?

I had Toyota figure it out (I had no choice). It was the Sunroof ECU. It was fried. Your seems like since it started intermittent maybe its loose wiring going in and out of the sunroof ECU?

A Toyota tech took two days tracing my entire wiring harness to find it.

Where is the sunroof ecu located? Im worried it could be that bc the sunroof every now and then makes a weird binding sound when opening and closing, might be another issue all together bc its kinda rare when it happens.

Also meant to add that my door locks don't work when the windows are giving me issues, so Im guessing a loose connection?

Sorry I don't have any additional info, I don't have the paperwork anymore. The repair bill was mostly labor. But it seems like you have something else going on if your door locks are an issue too.
