Still looking for a used 4runner actually a v6 but saw this 2005 sport V8 with 130k. 7k is what they want. How is the mpg on the v8 vs v6? Is it a big difference? If its not I might just go with the V8. Is the reliability the same as the V6?

thanks

V6 vs V8 MPG is negligible in my opinion when you factor in the fact that the V8 is AWD and the V6 is 4WD. As far reliability other than maintenance you need to watch out for V6 head gaskets on 03-05 and the timing belt on the V8 should be done around 90. Otherwise both are bulletproof.

You def want to go ahead with a V8 that price and mileage arent bad. Much more fun to drive and much more appropriate power for the size of vehicle. Also 05 has vvti so even more power. Did I mention the power?

Thanks guys! The V8 is a nice option and in about 6 months to a year it will my son's 4runner. Was not sure about the mgp vs the V6 but I guess its not much difference.

When I let my friends with V6s drive my V8 they wish they had a V8. I've never wished I have a V6 though...if I wanted better mpgs I would just drive a car.......get the V8!!

V6 owner here. With a little over 3" lift and 285/70 getting about ~14.5 mpg average. Wished I'd waited for a V8 lol.
