2005 4runner stopped moving

I changed my 4runner SR5 V8 master brake today, on my way home after diving for about 90 mins. There was a slight traffic and the car suddenly stopped moving.

If put into drive, it will not accelerate. Same with reverse. If you try to rev the engine, it does nothing but idle, am really pissed at the moment because I just spent money fixing the master brake.

Any ideal on what could be the cause?

My mechanic just checked; he said the transmission auxiliary has failed.

I am wondering if there's anything that I can do because I don't have funds to buy the transmission auxiliary here($500 minus labor cost).
