2005 4Runner v6 4WD scheduled maint guide

While looking through this it does not list that I need to change the differential fluids or transfer case fluid? It also does not say to replace the timing belt or chain for the '05 4Runner v6 engine 1GR-FE. It does say change the diff fluids if you have limited-slip, if equipped, but again it does not list the 4Runner in the footnote.

It is my understanding that you're supposed to change the diff AND transfer case fluids every 30,000. I did this at 35,000 and now I'm due again. I switched to synthetic fluids at 30,000 for the diff/transfer case back then. What about the timing belt or chain at 90,000 for the v6?

Toyota is WAY too busy with these recalls to bother with this...

Your correct... The way I read this you have 60k or so on the synthetic presently in the t-case and axles. I would change it again. Your '05 Runner is now 5. I'd change the coolant and trans fluid too. Finally on the V6 no need to do anything with the timing chain but I would put a set of spark plugs in it. The plugs are 30k items unless you swapped to long-life plugs at some point.

The V6 uses a timing chain, no regularly scheduled maintenance for it.

And of course our 4Runners use non-silicate coolant (from the 2004 model year and up), so the water pump shouldn't leak early either. And you're correct about the 100,000 mile change interval for the coolant. Basically, you should have no worries about the timing chain or water pump or coolant with the V6. Sweet, huh?

On the anti-freeze, IMHO, I care less about miles than age. I would consider doing it no later than in it's 7th year. It's comparatively cheap and why not.

Transmission: Toyota says "for life" unless you tow, then it's 60k (see this link http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/index.php ). The WS fluid is good stuff but not that good IMHO and several FJC guys agree (look around their forums). The links below explain some of it including the fact the transmission is not sealed, it just fills differently.
