Hi, Today I bought my first 4runner (2005 4WD with 80K miles). It is in awesome shape from inside and outside (thanks to previous owner) and really excited to take this toy on off road adventure. By the way second most important thing I did today is, enrolled myself on this forum to share my exprience and get to know what others are doing. looking great talks ahead and thank you everyone!!

I had mine since new and will never part with her. My only maintenance has been a new battery, alternator, serpintine belt, front brakes, tires, shocks and rad flush. Coming up, rear brakes, spark plugs and fresh "world" transmission fluid from the stealership.

Head over to Toyota Owners - Official Toyota Owners Website
and register for free with your VIN to see if there are any maintenance records from Toyota on your truck.
I strongly recommend having the transmission fluid along with the differential fluids changed.
Also, check the condition of your brakes often.

You will need to swap the shocks in the rear and the struts in the front along with an alignment(probably the first one) because the suspension is so tight. The antifreeze is original as well, change it soon for preventative maintenance.

I still have my original battery and alternator. Was there something that caused your alt to go bad?
