2005 Interior Trim

As I got in my 4Runner today I discovered a scratch on my center console trim near the gear shift. It was a scratch on the Silver trim . It was bad enough to chip away part of the paint. I then called the dealer since the truck is only 4 months old. They said that it was not covered under warranty and that the part alone was $249.00 + install. Because I had to buy the entire trim kit!?! Does anyone know where I can get the factory trim kit for way way cheaper than $249.00?? I am wanting to spend at the most $100 or is there any way to just buy the part I need? Thanks!!!

You know the same thing happen to me. The silver paint chip really bad at the edge on the passenger side. The 4 runner was only 3 months old, and I took it back to the dealer where I bought it and they exchange it for no cost. The parts guy there said it might not be covered, so I left it anyways and when I came back they replaced it with no charge.

That is the problem with that ugly painted silver trim. Once it chips off, it looks like shit and there really isn't a cheap solution. It also seems to chip really easy. I unknowingly spilled some coffee down the passanger side of it and it stained it pretty bad. I tried to wipe it off with windex, but it started to take the paint off. Toyota should make a touch up paint for it.
