Hey,
I just got a new to me 2005 4Runner which I'm pretty excited about but I'm starting to find issues that weren't apparent before. Ive gotten past the "oh shit, buyers remorse" stage, and I'm ready to get this to a reliable driver. Hope you guys can't point me in the right direction.
I went to put the rear window (the tailgate one? back? rear?) and it went down more or less sideways and refused to come back up. Pulled the interior panel and found lots of rusty parts (I'll address that in the spring.). It seems that passenger side part that connects to the window and rides in the rail totally disintegrated, but the cables are all still connected.
[edit: looks like I might need the entire "regulator" [ 4 ] BODY HARDWARE / LIFT GATE / GLASS & HARDWARE / Regulator Part Number: 6980735020 if the parts aren't available individually]
I managed to shove the window back up while someone else was hitting the switch. The rear defroster and rear wipers also don't work, but from what I've read, this is probably the car thinking that the window is down. I can't reliably do a full down-back up cycle with only half the window lifter mechanism attached. Any way to fool it in the meantime?
I'm not sure where to look for part names and numbers. I come from the Subaru world where I knew where to find stuff, but in reality, the best place to start is forums. I'll be here lots!
The other issue is that my "you're skidding," "vsc" and one other adjacent light are all on at once. My mechanic said that something might have gotten wet while he was spraying off the frame and undercarriage during inspection. It did turn off for one out of the last 10 or so driving cycles (start - drive - off). Any ideas there? I like Christmas trees, but not on my dashboard.
Third thing, I noticed in the stickies, that there's a link to download a zip of the 2006 FSM. I've tried on two computers and it tells me that the zip file is invalid (but still large enough to have downloaded completely). Can someone verify for me that I'm not doing it wrong?
Thanks! (and I'll take pics and whatnot when it's nice out). But, it's gray sr5 and 100% stock.
