2005 Sport Edition map lights / console vibration

I have a random vibration / noise coming from the map light / console area. I wanted to remove it to see if a plastic piece was broken, but I can't figure how to remove and I didn't want to damage it or the head liner. I would assume its held in place by clips? Anyone with experience removing one?

I have the same annoying rattle. I noticed when I put a little pressure on it the rattle will stop. I think it may be the light lenses. I have yet to pull it down and apart.

All the ceiling lights are held in by spring clips. Trick is knowing which side to pull from. I'm pretty sure you pull on the front side for the map lights but don't take my word for it haha.

I really wanted to pull the entire section down because I think the vibration is coming from somewhere other than the lights. Last thing I want to do is break it and have it hanging there by the sun roof wiring!

I pulled mine down. I used a screwdriver to slip in the front of the console and pulled down and it popped out. If you start at the rear you will break the little fingers that hold it in place.

Here you can see the spring clips on the black portion (front) and the 3 fingers are on the back portion.



Here you can see the plastic frame that kinda floats around. I'm thinking this was rattling against the console. I put some sound deadening stuff on where the fingers rest to give it an tighter fit. So far so good.
