2005 toyota 4runner 4wd v6 tires

What are the best replacments for stock tires? I have the cross terrain SUV tires and looking to get very similar tires, but not at the high cost of Michelin tires.

I've looked at the Continental Cross Contact LX HR rated and the Yokahama Geolanders recommended by Toyota. Both have good ratings, but it would be nice to hear from people who have them. I would like treadwear above 500, temp B, trac A.

I'm looking for long wear, good street contact in wet, dry, light snow, etc. Very limited off-roading.

Avoid Dunlops... Check around and get the best pricing... BJ's, Costco can be competitive and often the local tire shops will beat their prices.

i just picked up some Cooper Discoverer ATR for about $160 each
my size 265/65-17 got about 500 miles on them and there is no noticeable road noise so far very pleased with them.

Tires...

The stock size on the 05 Runner limited tire cost from what I have been noticing is about $120 - $130 through Tire Rack. This would be for Continental or Yoko) I'd probably have our Discount Tire put them on since they match the price of Tire Rack plus a few extra dollars for mounting, road hazard, etc.

I've heard that tire rack is good for price comparison. basically if something goes wrong with the tire your local chain usually can have it there with in a couple of hours, tire rack who knows.

Gas mileage and tires...

Something else I was reading is about gas mileage and tires that can have an impact on this. I thought I read that some said the Continental CrossContact LX decreased your mileage more so than the Michlen SUV cross terrains.

Any opinions on this. It's probably not by much, but on the East Coast here we get our main gas from a TX pipeline and we know what happens when a hurricane comes a knocking in TX! Gas shortages, price increases, etc!

Anyone with the Yokohama Geolanders or Continentals out here? I think I've narrowed it down to those two, but Michelin did just come out with a new Latitude to replace the Cross Terrain as I was told by our local tire store. Tire looks nice, but price I'm sure is through the roof.

Nice runner! Looks just like mine (same color). I'd like to see the cooper too, however I just don't see a lot of them on 4Runners where we're at.

Try some Nitto Terra Grapplers AT, or the trusty old Revos AT.
