2005 Toyota 4Runner v6 limited 4wd front brake pad recommendation:

The back of my 4Runner has Sumitomo pads w/Toyota name and I was wondering if anyone knew who made the front pads. They will need to be replaced soon and I'd like to use factory pads since they work very well outside of the high pitch squeal I sometimes have.

Any recommendations on pads that are equal to Sumitomo while using stock 4Runner rotors? Can you buy Sumitomo pads anywhere outside of the dealer? I'm trying to avoid paying the dealer prices! I recently removed my back pads off thinking the squeal was from them, but after lightly sanding the pads, rotors and lubing the brakes the random squealing is still there, mainly in cold weather. So I guess it's the front making the noise.

Thanks for any recommendations on the pad choice and any pointers on replacing them on the front. The back was easy!

Have your rotors cut. I'd go with OEM pads. If the caliper is frozen you might be out a few bucks.

I've never been a fan of turning rotors. They tend to warp easier and makes you do the work twice. I'd get some good NEW blank rotors. Brembo blanks are nice. But I prefer Autozone Duralast, because they are the same quality as Brembo's, but also come with a 2 year guarantee.

As for pads, I prefer ceramics. Hawk LTS pads are nice (tirerack sells them). OEM is good, too. Try trdparts4u for OEM parts. They are very reasonably priced.
