2005 Tranny Drain Fill with Dr Shutter

Hello All,

Well, my transmission shutter is back (it has been for a while now) and last I checked, it's been more than 50K miles since its last flush (at Toyota). Don't want to do the flush again and I don't want to unscrew the tranny lines to get all of it out (WS fluid is expensive and it isn't a scientific way........ what if the tranny fluid is nice and red and I won't be able to tell if the new one is coming out?). Anyway, I wanted do a drain and fill and 2 or 3 more during the next oil changes. I change my oil every 5K so I figure by the 3rd time, the tranny fluid should be mostly all new. My question was, do I add "instant shutter fix" every time I do the drain and fill? I would think that is overkill. Any suggestion or experience would be appreciated. thanks!

I would add it at least on the first and last just so you know the Shutterfix is still in there at the end of the cycle, it can't do it's job if most of it gets drained out along with the fluid.

Thanks [MENTION=149207]AuSeeker[/MENTION]! I was thinking of doing the first drain/fill, then doing it again the next weekend, then AGAIN the following weekend, finally, at the last drain and fill, add the anti-shudder fluid (if it hasn't been cured already).

OP, how much would you add? 1 or 2 tubes? (Shudder fix)

I just bought a 2005 v6 and there’s a little vibration between 30-40mph, symptoms are in line to the rumble strip issue, I’m not sure when, if any, fluid was replaced so I’m also thinking on doing drain and fill. I’m just not sure if draining 3 quarts should be enough.

Before you add. That snake oil, install a magnefine filter to the cooling line. It will scrub the crap out of the fluid so the grit does not recirculate. I put mine up top by the battery so it can be replaced easily in 50,000 miles.

Not snake oil, it works. It worked for me several years ago when my shutter started. Some time after that, I had the tranny flushed and filled at Toyota and a few years later, the shutter began again. [MENTION=78997]Drcoffee[/MENTION] , interesting device you have set up, gonna look into it.

I also put one on the power steering line too. You would be shocked what the internal magnet catches. Chunks of clutch material that would otherwise keep flowing thru the trans. Everytime you add tranny fluid it acts like fresh detergent and loosens crud to start moving again. I believe that is the primary cause of transmission failure after a flush. I put it after the cooler normally so the fluid has time to cool more before returning to the transmission.
