2005 VVT-i V8 Performance/MPG Upgrades?

Sup guys... I live out here in Cali and when you have a stunning new ride (2005 4R V8 4X4) you need to upgrade it performance wise. I only want to really get a K&N FIPK or similar intake and TRD dual exaust. I can't really find the K&N that lists it is specifically for the VVT-i V8 (2005+) and the TRD dual exaust (for V8 2002-2004) won't fit the 2005 without removing the spare tire! Any news as to when TRD and K&N might engineer/approve/improve their products for the 2005+ VVT-i V8 'Runners out there? Anyone with any sort of upgrades for their 2005 V8's worth checking out? Thanks fellas...

TRD makes a drop in Air Filter... you might want to look into that.

I contacted K&N not too long ago inquiring about the FIPK for the 05 V8 4Runner and a Customer Service rep said there are no plans for production. They are however (according to their site) looking for test vehicles to fit the FIPK.

I think there was a few posts on here about the ram type filters and the possibility of not keeping out water etc (when offroading) ... but if you're just driving on the street I guess it's no biggie.

I couldn't believe it myself but thats what the rep said. If you go on their site they have a section for test vehicles that I believe you can sign up on.

nh00gts... did you read the web site? haha they want to keep your vehicle for 1 - 5 working days! dang, wonder what they're gonna do to my baby for 5 days! God forbid they keep it over the weekend...! well I'm up in NorCal so I can't "loan" my vehicle for "testing". maybe some of our SoCal bretheren with VVT-i V8 'Runners could look into this to help the rest of us out? :rolleye2:

If they do get back to you, you should tell them that we could have a potential large group buy if they develop and manufacture the intake. This might make them a little more willing to start R&D on an intake system.

Pending their reply to you we should have a poll for a group buy for this product.

The Magnaflow catback is a nice addition to the 4Runner in my opinion. It sounds great, looks better then the factory resonator and I have picked up 3mpg in the process. I got mine from www.performancepeddler.com for a touch over $380 delivered. You can check my link below for further details.

I also have the K&N drop in filter but didn't really notice any gains with it. I'm sure there is something there, but not enough to notice. If you have a "street only" truck then a nice set of wheels could really set you apart from the crowd as well. I'm about to throw on my 22's and have a set of 20's that will be for sale if your interested. They have about 5k miles on them and are in mint condition.
