2006 4.7 4 runner problem need help!!

well I got my 06 silver sport 2 days ago and I have 210 miles on it! but I have noticed a problem and need help from other v8 runner owners..between about 1400 rpm and 2000 rpm in any gear I get a vibration in the steering wheel????? so when I got home tonight I brought the rpms up in park slowly and when it got to 1400 it started to vibrate in the chassis not bad but... then at 2000 it went away???? does anybody else have a problem like this? I love my runner and wonder if it needs more miles to brake in or is this going to do this for the life of the truck? sorry for the long post but I need help thanks mike....

For some reason some of them do this. :gay: I dont knbw why, but I know mine is a V6 :clap: and it seems to do it at a little bit higher rpm. Mine is hardly noticeable but if you look for it you will feel it.

thanks but I did not pay 33k for this to be normal!!! and this engine has been around for a long time toyota should hve the bugs woked out by now I hope my dealer can do something about this....

i got mine dec 15th last year. it's got about 2500 miles so far.

i also noticed some vibrations and rattles when it was as new as yours. but it's pretty much all gone now. maybe your car is too new and just needs a little break-in?

i also noticed that noise & vibrations got something to do with tire pressure. i originally had mine at 29 at new cuz i wanted a softer ride. but few days after i noticed various rattles and noises, i adjusted the tire pressure up to 33. now, i get much better handling plus all the rattling noise seem to be disappeard.

unless the vibration is something really severe, i would take it easy and drive around until your first oil change (i did mine at 2000 miles). if the noise still persists, you can adress those issues at the first oil change. you might also want to inflate/deflate your tire pressure a bit to see if it helps

yep I was thinking that it needs more miles on it but I just talked to my dealer and he said to bring it back ..... and the car does not have to be driving even in park between 1400 and 2000 it vibrates then smoothes out after 2k....try it see if you feel anything ... thanks mike
 
My 06 V8 is pretty smooth. It's possible you have some bad fuel in it (from in transit time or sitting on the lot for prolonged periods), or maybe they didn't put 91 octane in it. I would recommend 91, especially during the break in period. And if after a new tank of premium gas the problem persists, you may want to disconnect the battery or pull the main fuse for 30 seconds. That will allow the computer to reset itself and, once reconnected, will re-calibrate the air/fuel ratios to what it should be. These are just a couple ideas, though. I would try the easy stuff first before having them dig into the engine, which may be OK. I know my V8 has a little vibration during passing under load, but I figure it's because everything's tight and hasn't broken in yet. I have 600 miles so far and got it on New Years Day.

Ours is smooth as silk. Don't get excited about this, just take it back. It isn't normal.

I wouldn't even be the slightest bit concerned about a problem like this until after I had given the dealer a chance to correct it.
 
I feel a little bit of this myself (120 mi.) but not concerned at this point. Everything on the truck seem's so damn tight right now , I'll give it a chance to loosen up first.

As far as fuel goes I'll just run 87 oct. in mine. Dealer said that would be fine , but I go through 2 tank's per week so any bad stuff should be out of there soon if it has something to do with fuel.

I'll have to try mine in park at those RPM's to see if it does it. I did put some different and bigger tire's on right away , so that might have something to do with it too.
 
No vibrations here. I got mine in Nov. It has 2300 miles on it. I do feel the occasional movement somewhere after being stopped or just releasing the brake that others think is the driveshaft movement. But zero engine vibrations. Seems very smooth. But I will recheck this for you and report back. Good luck.

[When you hear the moan/drone turn off the audio system. Check to see if you feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel (not side to side motion caused by wheel shimmy), vibration in door pull handles or a slight vibration in your right heal or in the accelerator.
The sound/vibration is created by engine harmonics setting up a vibration in the drive train. Toyota has fixed it in the Lexus GX-470 but apparently not enough people have complained to Toyota to encourage them to fix the 4Runners. Dealer can do nothing because there is no Toyota TSB issued.

Toyota has officially informed me, in a meeting and test drive two weeks ago, that this type of vibration along with the so called "clunk" of the driveshaft is a "normal operating characteristic".
In fact both were present in the new 06' 4Runner that the Regional Customer Service Manager was driving so I did not have to give a long drawn out explaination!! That person did not know if Toyota was working to correct the problem. Repeated letters to Toyota about it have gone unanswered because it is Toyotas policy not to reply in writing but to go through verbal conversations with the Regional Customer Service Managers.

So I guess that the 03-06 4Runners are Official Clunkers...]
I was left with the very definate impression from the Regional Rep that not enough customers are formally complaining to Toyota for them to do anything about it! Because so much else about the 4Runner is so good, most seem to be willing to accept it or take a brush off from the dealer.

I think a wheel balance issue. I have had a vibration problem at around 50 mph, after balancing 4 wheels with Road Force Measurement

Do you know what the fix is for the GX? Motor mounts?
 
The least you can do is move the both front tires to the rear. If it is a balance problem then you will still notice it but it will be a different feeling and possibly you will only hear it and not feel it thru the steering wheel. It you feel the problem is the exact same thing after rotation, then it is not the wheels.

How could it be the drive shaft if he gets the vibration by reving in park?
