2006 Brake Pedal Click/Release After Startup

Has anyone noticed the sort of ABS click/release of the brake pedal about 10 seconds after startup? My 2004 didn't do this. I am not referring to the initial pressurization of the brake's hydraullic system. The click/release happens shortly after initial pressurization.

I have this going on too. I find that virbates lot in stop and go traffic. Is this normal?

Ha! It must be a silver truck thing then because I have it as well on my 2005!

My 2003 silver one did it as well as my 2005 silver. I always thought this was my remote starter disengaging after stepping on the brake.

After driving my new 4runner a bit more, I have discovered that this release happens after you start the car, put the car in drive and drive forward about 5 feet (this is where it happens).

It doesn't bother me or anything... I just haven't owned a car that did this (including my 2004 4runner).

wow, im glad it wasnt just me either...i was trying to ignore it hoping it wasn't a major problem...as it stands i have to get body work done and im not happy about it...

my father in law backed his volve into my nice clean truck, ripiing a piece out of the bumper where it meets the wheel well flare...bumming

It may be the following...

The 2006 owners manual, page 336 states the following,

"You may hear a click or motor sound in the engine compartment for a few seconds when the engine is started of just after the vehicle begins to move. This means that the anti-lock brake system is in the self-check mode, and does not indicate a malfunction"

Our Highlander does the same thing, so did my Subaru's before that.
