This may be getting a little old, people asking for help on their navigation installation, so first I would like to thank all the people who have shared all of their work on the mulitple threads in this and the Sienna forum. The information has been excellent, and is the main reason that I decided to buy a 2006 4Runner without the JBL 10 speaker system and then install the Solara Nav.
I have the unit mostly installed, and will receive the XM radio hookup today. The Toyota Japan microphone should arrive next week. I currently have two questions:
1. First, does anyone have detailed info on installing and external speaker for the voice commands? I see that a speaker needs to be hooked up to pins 11 and 13 on the R5 connector, but I was just wondering if anyone had some step-by-step instructions?
2. This may be specific to the 2006 Limited model, but I was hoping someone would have some ideas. The 2006 Ltd comes with an auxilliary port built into the console. This port actually connects to the Radio through the 20-pin R5 connector, but it won't play in the 2006 Solara Nav unit. I guess the Nav Unit is not set up to accept whatever signal the aux. port is sending.
But my question is really this: My Factory radio already had a 12-pin connector that fits into the Navigation slot which people are using for the XM radio/CD changer/RSE connector. I was sure that my aux. port was using that 12 pin connector, but it isn't - when I pulled that connector out of my radio, the aux. port was still active. Does anyone know what this 12 pin connector is hooked up to in my 4Runner, and do you think I will lose anything if I unplug it and replace it with the XM radio connector???
