2006 wheel specs

I bought my daughter a 2006 4R and recently a used set of TRD wheels and Goodyear tires from a 2018 4R with only 100 miles. The 2006 tire size is 265/65/17 and the 2018 are 265/70/17. During the attempted instal they rubbed and didn't fit, unfortunately I wasn’t present. I’ve been thinking of keeping the wheels and buy tires that fit but now I’m thinking that they too may not fit because of the difference in wheel offsets. Your thoughts?

The later 5th Gen rims aren't the same, your 4th Gen (2007) rims have a 30mm backset, the later 5th Gen rims have a 15mm backset, which moves the tire outward on a 4th Gen 4Runner, this shouldn't be a problem with the same size tire (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but with the 265/70s you gain almost an inch in tire height which also makes it bigger from the front of the tiire to the back which is probably why you're getting the rubbing issue.

Here a rim and tire calculator that once you figure out how to use it will help you figure out how to get these rims and tires to work, I have already entered the different rim and tire sizes, I'm thinking a simple minor lift kit would do the job, but again someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep....those tires are a little too big without a bit of lift. There are several threads on here with tire size recommendations depending on the ride height.

I'm running the "snowflake" rims off a 2017 SR5 4runner on my 2006 Sport. With 255/75R17 tires (just a bit smaller than thos 265/70R17). I added about 1" of lift with some new shocks and springs all the way around and don't have any rubbing but it's really, really close on the front fender liners.

I did a bit more research and found out that later 5th Gen TRD Pro rims have a 4mm backset so that moves the wheel out a bit more than a stock 5th Gen 15mm backset wheel would when put on a 4th Gen.
