2007 4Runner

Hello!
I recently purchased a 2007 4Runner (V6). My problem is putting it into 4wd. I have the dial for 2H-4H-4L. To get into 4H (primarily used for snow covered roads) I assumed I would just need to turn the dial to 4H, not locking in the differentials (manual calls it unlocked As I read the manual it sounded like this would be similar to an AWD type system. My previous vehicles have been GM and all that was required to put them in AWD/4WD was turning the dial...no buttons to push for differentials. Any advice or simple guides available to help out with my dilema? Thanks!!!

That's all you have to do...turn the knob to 4H. The 4WD icon will flash on the dash until it engages.

Read the manual. Sometimes it takes a few seconds (or longer) to engage but the vehicle should preferrably be moving. On occasion, the modules and/or solenoids for the system will fail. If it won't engage and you're sure you followed the manual, then you'll need to have it looked at. It's also good to exercise the system about once a month.
