2007 Limited rotor size (will 16 inch wheel fit?)

I've searched the forum but couldn't find a definite answer.
Basically some folks claim that post 06 Limited and SE came with bigger rotors thus 16 inch won't fit while others claim only SE came with the bigger rotors.
What I would like to know is:

• Will 16inch FJ wheels fit on 2007 Limited?
• Will 16inch Tacoma TRD from 2006 fit on 2007 Limited?
• Did 2007 4Runner Limited come with bigger rotors like SE?

I just need to pick a set of smaller wheels to put on snow tires.

No, if I remember correctly, 16 inch will NOT fit on a 4th gen Limited Runner.

I depends, crawl under there and check your calipers. From what I've read, some 4th gen Limiteds came with the smaller 13WG calipers, while others (like mine) have the larger 13WH calipers and can only fit 17"+ rims.

IIRC, the following applies to all 4th Gens:

ALL SR5: Smaller front brakes ONLY (320mm rotors)
ALL SE: Larger front brakes ONLY (338mm rotors)
Limited: smaller brakes standard, larger brakes optional.

*All of the above have the same size rear rotors (312mm)

Some Limiteds seem to have the larger SE brakes and some don't, and this applies to any year from '03 - '09 from what I've seen. I don't know if it was a standalone option or part of an upgrade package, but if you have a Limited the only way to know for certain is the check the casting on the caliper or measure the rotor.

Just like [MENTION=93361]viggen337[/MENTION] said, the Limiteds had the option for the large 338mm rotors and calipers. Check to see if 13-WH is stamped on the front calipers, they are the larger ones. If so, then you'll need at least a 17" wheel from what I remember.

WH embossed on your caliper means 16" wheels will not fit
WG or WL means 16" will fit

It should be noted that all 4Runners have functionally the same calipers, the different embossing only means the brake caliper has longer standoffs (in the WH case) to clear the larger rotors (331 vice 318 mm). The larger rotors are suppose to provide enhanced stopping power via additional cooling of the rotor.

They did on my '03 V8 Limited, but I've got the smaller front rotors.

I just got home from work and I am working on my truck right now. I took a quick picture for reference; you can easily see the marking without removing the wheel. Just pop your head around the back side of the tire and look at the back of the caliper.

Here's the driver's side on mine:

For clarification, I updated my previous post with the correct rotor size info that I couldn't remember off the top of my head earlier.

They are either 320mm or 338mm front rotors. And of course all of the rears are 312mm.

Thanks for those specs - I'm about to order all new rotors and pads, upping the fronts to the larger ones and was hoping I had the measurements right! (I'm getting Napa reman SE calipers, too)

You will either need to get different dust shields or cut yours. The larger rotors and calipers won't fit your existing dust shields.

Save yourself some time and just use a rubber mallet to bang the dust shield inward towards the engine bay. You dont need to hit it much. This will save you the trouble of trying to remove the shield, which is overkill and time consuming. Also, you don't need to cut the shield. Take my word for it, cutting with a grinder is tough because the shield will flex like crazy once you cut into it. Additionally, tin snips are a waste of time. Just use a rubber mallet.

If i got the different rotors would i need to change calipers too?

You would need to switch to the smaller calipers that I believe have 13-WG on the side. They fit the 16", and thereby also the 17" wheels.

Don't get smaller brakes, you live in Seattle. Do you REALLY need to reduce your breaking power just for the 30 minutes of snow we get each year? I ride in Seattle all the time, please don't get smaller brakes and smash into me because you have too much brake fade going down Denny.

You have 4x4 chains aren't even required over Stevens pass on three feet of snow.

Unless you live in the sticks in whatcom county, I sincerely doubt you need snow tires. They just repaved I5. Don't destroy it.
