I am planning to purchase a 2007 Limited as soon as they become available, but only if the dash is upgraded to the optitron dash display. The dash on the vehicle now is no different then cars 20 yrs ago. The optitron dash is so clear and readable under all conditions that it also adds to the safety of the vehicle. This is the same technology used in jets. Toyota upgraded several models with this dash, I hope they don' t forget the 4Runner.
Also the present 4 wheel drive system on on the 4 runner is really super old technology. The system on the V8 is only a small improvement. The 4wheel drive system should be able to put 100% of the engine power to any one tire.
Ever wonder why Toyota is sometimes so slow to implement up to date technology? I sure do. I would have purchased the 2006 if it was not for the dash. One final note. I had halogen headlights on a car I owned in 1987, wake up Toyota ever heard of H.I.D. headlights.
