2007 rear lift gate

My rear lift gate will not open. You can hear the motor and watch the levers move with the cover off. I've also tried pulling up in both levers like I've saw in some videos. It still will not open. What gives?

Try disconnecting the battery for a bit , then reconnect and see if it works.

You're probably going to have to try and get a screw driver in there and pry against the release bar to get it to pop. Don't pry too hard as you don't want to bend anything, pulling on it may not be enough. I would also roll the back window down and pull the door against the vehicle some when doing this. You also want to make sure that the vehicle and the door latch is unlocked.

If that doesn't work you're basically looking at slowly breaking the latch assembly apart to get it to pop loose, but at that point you'll need to replace it. I've had to do this with Sequoias in the past due to their notorious failure of latches/handles.

I've tried even a pry bar. I don't think it's unlocking. I've tried sequencing the locks several times with no luck. I even unplugged it and tried unlocking with the key manually. Is there some way to get the mechanism out with the door still closed? I've been trying to get this stupid thing to open for a good 3 months now. I'm really not interesting in taking it to the stealership.

If the lock actuator is not working the latch motor would not/should not come on, you should hear a click when you unlock the hatch door just like with the other doors, if you're hearing the click then the lock should be working, if not then the actuator is bad, if you hear it click and hearing the motor running I'm afraid you are going to have dismantlle the latch assembly anyway you can as BlackWorkInc mentioned and then install a new one, it sounds like the latch assembly is corroded and not releasing.

I do not hear a click from the back door like it is unlocking. Just see, hear the motor working. I've tried spraying in there with wd40 a couple times hoping it would start working.
