2008 4Runner misleading marketing

Well, my '08 Sienna does not have active headrests. Yet another misrepresentation by that Kwong guy!

BTW, the Toyota 4runner brochure is well-known to have mistakes and misrepresentation of "facts/stats". I love to see what ground clearance and breakover angles it states with every passing year!:bash:

As far as I know, the only "new" safety feature that became standard on the '08 from the '07 version was the Side Curtain Air Bags. These were optional until '08. Now they are standard equipment.

Fact- The 2008 brochure does indeed list active headrests as a standard feature.

I also did a search on TIS and there were no notes, comments or diagrams of specific active headrests. Now I am on a mission to find out more about them.

Got photos of the seat taken apart?

Below is an excerpt from the New Model Information about the 2008 Highlander (from TIS).

Although it doesn't help your case, I'll add that the New Model Information for the 2008 4Runner did not mention the addition of active headrests.

I have yet to see a sales brochure though that hasn't had a disclaimer (usually at the very back) that says something to the effect that "Manufacturers Specifications are subject to change without notice" or something like that.

this added safety feature was the major reason for purchasing a 2008 model.

You can actually pull the headrest forward and see the chrome posts move inside the seat. The pressure sensor is about 1.5 X 3 inches and you can move the headrest with thumb pressure.

So, This safety feature was the major reason for getting an '08, and it is fairly easy to see if it is there.

Can we presume that you didn't bother to check for this easy to see major reason for your purchase before you took delivery?

At the time we purchased, the 2008 models were just starting to be delivered and this particular 4Runner was allocated to another dealer, so I placed a non refundable deposit on it to get it transferred from the original dealer. Also at that time I had trust in toyota and their truthfulness in advertising. If you can

Second picture, on the far right you can see the side air bag but nothing pertaining to the active headrest system.

Last one, as you can see the active headrest safety feature isn't in the seats and there aren't even provisions to mount any of the mechanics of it.
