2008 limited GPS update

2008 LIMITED GPS
I HAVE THE U41 DISC BUT NEED TO UPDATE, EITHER THE DISC OR THE WHOLE UNIT. experiences? recommendations?

Sadly, Toyota is bad about giving NAV updates for longer than a 5 years I think. The newest disk I can get for my wife's 14 Sienna is the 2018 one. Around this time, they switch to SD cards and such. I'd still like to get the latest DVD, which can be bought on Ebay, just because l like the big screen map when navigating certain areas but I rely on Waze for real directions with the NAV as backup and slightly zoomed out. Honda supports their NAV systems longer.

As for other options, some mention using a Scion head unit but those are now old and probably have the same issue. If you really want a head unit to do NAV, I suggest looking at Crutchfield's site to see what is available. They are not light on the wallet though.

I'm a back counter parts guy at a Toyota dealer. The final update disc for that unit was the 2016 version.
