New to the forum and am amazed by all the info!. I purchased a 2008 SR5 about a year and a half ago. Have had absolutley no issues with this vehicle and I love it. I was just wondering what some of the common major issues with this year are so I might be able to do some preventative maintenance before anything does occur. also any info on common TSB's would be helpful. Thanks

Not that I know of. All my money spent on 4runner was just maint stuff.

-oil change (dino:3k~4k)(syn:4k~5k)/air filter
-replaced serp belt once
-replaced battery two times
-replaced plugs once
-tranny/diff replaced two times
-replaced tires two times.
-replaced shock/strut once
-replaced left signal light bulb MANY times...lol
-resurface rotors and replaced pads once
-Power steering fluid once

Everything is stock @110k and running great. Had this car since new.

Issue? My fuel gauge going on/off, not big of deal to me.

Is this your first Toyota? They are unlike your domestic vehicles, despite domestics getting better over the past 10 years or so.

I've owned 6 Toyotas and I'd have to say that the # of times I had a warranty or TSB related issue on all SIX of them is less than those issues that I've had on any ONE of the 8 or so domestic vehicles that I've owned.

The only "bad" part on these 4th gens that I know of is the factory radio. Had mine replaced once. Replacement one still acts up now and then. Come springtime I think I will replace it with a good deck from Kenwood or pioneer. Some folks talk about a modding addiction that comes along with these vehicles. I had that before the 4runner so nothing new to me.
